Rolling past Cass St  Contributor's Pick!
BUOI rolls into Hornell past Cass St tower, now a relay case for CP Cass, as it enters Hornell. The tower is partly seen at far right. To the far left, coming out from under the first car, the track leading to the left is the Erie main to Jamestown and Youngstown OH. It was cut the year before, when Conrail essentially abandoned it as a through route, with what little traffic remained served by Olean based locals, with cars forwarded over the ex PRR Buffalo Line. It would be another ten years til WNY&P resored the connectino after NS took over the line. For now, we have only the ghosts of ELOI and 2NY 100 to take the switch and climb toward Tip Top.
