DTI 2-8-4 #705 - Detroit, Toledo & Ironton  Contributor's Pick!       
1935 Lima built Berkshire #705 sits for servicing. Does anyone know if the pit and angling conveyor belt is part of the ash pit, possibly to remove ashes and cinders after cleaning? Specs - class 700, 63" drivers, impressive 250 psi boiler pressure, 25x30" cylinders, engine weight of 361,370 lb, tractive effort of 63,244 lb, scrapped between 1953-56. Harold K. Vollrath photo
