CB&Q 4-8-4 Class O-5-A 5611
Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad 4-8-4 Class O-5-A 5611, date, location, and photographer unknown, print by Don Gruber, Chuck Zeiler collection. Number 5611 was assembled by the CB&Q at West Burlington, Iowa, completed in June 1937, sold for scrap in October 1953. Baldwin supplied the boiler, various other manufacturers supplied the other components, and it was equipped with a Worthington Type SA Feedwater Heater. Based on CB&Q Locomotive Assignment Sheets dated between 1940 and 1952, showing 5611 assigned to the Chicago Division, the location is guessed to be the Chicago area, and the locomotive is equipped with spoked pilot wheels, so I'm guessing around 1940. Most, if not all, of the Class O-5-A's had their pilot wheels replaced upon shopping for Class 1 repairs, around 10 years or so after building.
