Train 225
C1900 - In a nutshell.... In 1887 The Dominion Lime Co opened a 4 mile line between Lime Ridge & Doswell Jct., PQ. It was sold to the Hereford Ry in 1889. MEC leased the Hereford in May of 1890. This scene shows a gleeming MEC 126 apparently at the end of track in front of the station. The 225 in front of the head lamp is the train number. The Fall 1904 time table lists Train 225 as departing Quebec City at 7AM & passing through Doswell Jct at 8:35 AM. By this date Lime Ridge had apparently become a short branch on the longer run over the Quebec Central from Doswell Jct to Levis a station on the banks of the St. Lawrence across the river from Quebec City. #126 was an MEC Class H renumbered from 101 to 126 in 1900. From the Portland Works it was built in April of 1889 and scrapped May of 1916. Builders #587. /DL
