| A wide view of a prevous shot shows the Little Neck station area as the Valentines Day blizzard of 1969 rolls in. Before it was done, there would be 20" of snow in the city. We had ten foot drifts on our block. The city came in with front end loaders to clear the street-ten days later. The bonus was, of course, no school and lots of sledding in our hilly neighborhood-and diesel powered trains with pairs of RS 1s. Too bad I didnt get any photos-I was 9 years old then. |
