Rio Grande Train 18
At 7:55 on a Tuesday morning D&RGW train 18, the eastbound RIO GRANDE ZEPHYR, rolls into Provo, Utah for its scheduled stop. (Notice the exhaust, as the engineer keeps his train stretched out for a smooth stop!) No. 18 is 50 minutes into its 12-hour trip from Salt Lake City to Denver, and today's train consists of F9A 5771, F9B's 5762 and 5763, and seven cars: combine 1231, flat-top coach 1120 SILVER ASPEN (a former 16-section sleeper), dome cars 1107 SILVER MUSTANG, 1108 SILVER PONY and 1105 SILVER BRONCO, diner 1115 SILVER BANQUET and dome-observation car 1145 SILVER SKY. As soon as the photographer took this shot, he had to hurry to get on board for his all-day ride to Denver!
