Number 26 was built by Baldwin in September 1946 (c/n 72799) as MKT 1004, repowered by EMD (with a 12-567C rated at 1,000 horsepower) between February 1959 and April 1960 (EMD Order 8547) and renumbered 26, retired in 1986 and eventually sold to Rail Link becoming Caddo Valley 126. Anyone know the purpose of the box behind the rear exhaust stack? One source states that there were air filters in the box. |
