Early afternoon finds a nicely painted GP18 on the head end of the East Penn Railroad's local freight bound for Pennsburg. The former NYS&W locomotive was built in 1962 as part of a three unit order to supplement aging Alco RS-1s and S-2s, after successful test runs with GP20 demonstrators from EMD. The trio provided reliable service for the Susquehanna for over forty years before being sold off and making their way to Pennsylvania.
