| Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad E8 9972 at Aurora, Illinois on October 11, 1964, Ektachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Sinnce the days of steam, arriving Dinkys ( commuter trains ) at Aurora required the power to be turned for the return trip to Chicago. A turntable was located behind the Aurora Depot for that purpose, as seen here. In less that a year from this photo date, six Budd gallery cars with control cabs would arrive and all but eliminate this chore. |
