The aftermath
This picture was taken from the US 321 bridge. As you can see in front of CSX 130 there is the lead truck of Amtrak 47. By the radiator of the CSX 36 you can see the torn off cab remains of the Amtrak engine.

Randy Chassereau General This is truly a tragic situation. I've passed over these tracks numerous times since my college days and never dreamed we'd have something this awful happen. 2/6/2018 7:05:15 AM
Mike Maskel General NICE SHOT 2/6/2018 10:36:56 AM
Randy Curlin General So tragic :( 2/6/2018 7:13:00 PM
Ryan K General I’d say there is a 95% chance that they are going to scrap the AMTK 47 and CSXT 130. 2/7/2018 9:37:55 PM
Ethan Basford General I think CSX 130 is going to be scrapped based on how bad the damage is. For Amtrak 47, I would say the same thing. For CSX 36, I maanged to catch 36 in Greenbrier not too long ago, but thankfully I did. 2/10/2018 10:05:18 AM
Eric Green II General I was on the Texas Eagle in May 2017 & AMTK 47 was leading with AMTK 162 trailing. Sad 2 see this unit will now be scrapped. 12/9/2018 1:50:53 PM
Ryan K General CSXT 130 has been confirmed scrapped. RIP. 2/16/2019 8:27:55 PM
Jonathan Alternate General Sigh...people talking about the road power but not about the two lives lost or the injuries and trauma the survivors had to endure. The now-deceased crew on the Amtrak train did not have a lot of time to react when they realized that they were switched on the wrong line, and it must have been scary realizing that within a few seconds a collision would be imminent. An extremely belated rest in peace to the crew of the Amtrak, and hopefully the injured have now recovered from this tragedy. 6/4/2020 4:27:43 PM
Cruz Gabbard General Wow 8/30/2020 3:49:54 PM
