BM 2-8-4 #4001 "Cobra hooded" - Boston & Maine
An interesting feature of this 1928 Lima built 2-8-4 Berkshire was the Coffin feedwater heater that circled the crown of the smoke box, nicknamed the "cobra-hooded" look. Eventually this loco was sold to the ATSF in 1945 and renumbered ATSF 4193. Note on back of photo states - " B.&M. 4001 (2-8-4) arriving in W.R. Juct. From Boston." Specs - T-1a class, 63" drivers, 240 psi boiler pressure, 28x30" cylinders. No date or photographer was listed.
