CO 0-8-0 #227 - Chesapeake & Ohio
Built by Alco in 1930 for the Chesapeake & Ohio, it now sits in a scrap line, face plate removed, in a location listed as Ganley's Ridge, WV, by the photographer R.D. Patton. For the life of me, I can't seem to find where that is. Does anyone know this location? No date was given but since the entire C-16 class was retired between 1954-57, I listed it as 1954. Jonathan Spurlock (see comment below) found Handley, WV, as a location that does seem to fit the background very closely so I have identified the location as Handley, WV.. Could Ganley's Ridge be one of the hills in the background?

Rev. Jonathan Spurlock General Maybe this is Handley? First, compare the background with other pictures looking north, sort of, across the Kanawha River. Second, any number of steamers were kept here until scrapping circa 1956. "C&O Power" has at least two examples; one, a Mallet shoved off onto a side track and the other a switcher hauling a retired T-1 out onto the line for its last journey. Finally, compare the background here with these pictures: http://www.railpictures.net/photo/600510/, http://www.railpictures.net/photo/354059/, and http://www.railpictures.net/photo/168253/ 3/23/2019 1:18:24 AM
