Former Amtrak coach 7002 had been built by Budd in 1951 as Pennsylvania Railroad 1571, one of 32 66-seat coaches with 14-seat smoking sections for service on the CONGRESSIONAL LIMITED and the SENATOR. It was subsequently Penn Central 1571 and was assigned Amtrak 7402; but it retained its PRR/PC number until it was remodeled into HEP car 7002 for CLOCKER service in July 1981. Amtrak sold the car to the Panarail Tourism Co. in 2000; it was remodeled by Pete Messina and his crew here in New Orleans into PTC car RIO INDIO and shipped to Panama in October 2001. |
