Volkmer. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by William D. Volkmer that was taken near Pinecroft, Pennsylvania, on 16 April 1959. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9832, #9854-B, and #9832-B. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9832 and #9832-B were built in April of 1952, while #9854-B was constructed in June of the same year. This photo serves as the cover illustration of "Pennsylvania Railroad ~ Best Of Bill Volkmer; Volume 3: Altoona," published by Morning Sun Books in 2019.
