Mississippi Central 4-6-2 150
Mississippi Central 4-6-2 150 and a 140-class Mikado were preparing to leave Hattiesburg for Natchez on train No. 51. The 150 had been built by Alco’s Richmond Works in 1913 as Illinois Central 1117 (75" drivers) and then rebuilt by the IC as the 2077 (61" drivers) during WWII. The MSC bought it in 1948 and later sold it to the DeBardeleben Coal Co. in 1953. The 140 and 141 were purchased new from Alco in 1923 and the 142 came in 1929, and these were also retired in 1953 after the arrival of EMD SW9 units 201-210.
