PRR 6967, M-1, #1 of 4, 1956
MDiv. Here is the first of four successive duplicate 35mm color slides of photos by John Dziobko, Jr., that were taken near Lewistown, Pennsylvania, on 31 December 1956. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6967, an M-1 (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during December of 1926 and retired in June of 1959 after 33 years of faithful service. In this context, it's crawling along with a westbound mixed-cargo freight train which includes a disabled wooden reefer. ("Stoneborobranch"; #30 of 56)
