Good looking narrow gauge 2-8-0 Consolidation originally built by Burnham, Parry, Wms & Co (Baldwin predecessor) as Denver & Rio Grande #268 in April of 1882. The loco served first the Denver & Rio Grande and then DRGW until it was retired and donated to Gunniscon, CO, as a display. Specs - serial #6002, class 60/C-16, narrow gauge, 36" drivers, very modest 130 psi boiler pressure, small 15x20" cylinders, modest engine weight of 60,000 lb, very modest tractive effort of 13,813 lb. No location or photographer was listed for the slide. Although the slide has an April, 1974 date stamp, the photo date is more in alignment with early 1950's, especially since this loco was donated in 1955. |
