| CN 5341 sorts cars at the north end of the former SOO yard along Union St. at the former Caroline St. grade crossing at Neenah, WI, on 14 Feb. '21. The area between the tracks and Union St., from Main St. to Monroe St., used to be the yard. I don't know when the current, significantly larger yard (extending southwestward from Winneconne Ave.) was built, but a map from 1909 shows the yard still here. The Winneconne Ave. overpass is partially visible in the background to the right. It was erected ca. 1988 in order to eliminate the busiest grade crossing in the area. |
