Randy Curlin General Sacramento Northern ended its Oakland terminal ops (40th & Shafter) on 2/28/57. Abandonment of its mountain line and tunnel to Walnut Creek soon followed. SN 653 is the helper unit that will push the train to the top. 10/7/2023 2:20:56 PM
Randy Curlin General SN 62 is riding a flatcar back to Marysville. The little Birney car was trucked over to San Francisco to tour the Muni Ry. Its wheels were seriously damaged and SN management (furious over the incident) embargoed the streetcar from further trolley excursions over SN trackage. Both SN 62 and 653 are preserved in CA. 10/7/2023 2:26:09 PM
Tim Darnell General Interesting story & shot. 10/8/2023 10:05:46 AM
