| A westbound Grand Trunk Western manifest freight train heads through Durand, Michigan in April 1993. Lead engine #5731 is a GP38-2. Later the GTW 5700 series diesels were renumbered into the 4900 series. This was my 1st trip to Durand. It was a trip with my late Dad (RCJ I)! We stayed the night in Flint (after a good day of trains in Durand), 4-16-1993. This was at Durand the next day, the 17th. I was 9 at the time. I videotaped that trip! This whole train had absolutely no Graffiti seen! Man it would be nice if it still was like that! I love the power! Every freight (except BN coal trains and CMGN) had all GTW engines! Durand is my favorite spot (of all time) to go and watch trains! (Canon 35mm S.L.R., Kodak Gold 400-3 print film) |
