D&RGW Train No, 17         
At 7:45 on a Saturday evening D&RGW train No. 17, the westbound RIO GRANDE ZEPHYR, was dropping downgrade through Spanish Fork Canyon near Thistle, Utah as the train approached the end of its all-day trip from Denver to Salt Lake City. Today's train consisted of F9A 5771, F9B's 5762 and 5763, and eight cars: combine 1230, flat-top coaches (former 16-section sleepers) 1121 SILVER PINE and 1120 SILVER ASPEN, dome cars 1107 SILVER MUSTANG, 1108 SILVER PONY and 1105 SILVER BRONCO, diner 1115 SILVER BANQUET and dome-observation car 1145 SILVER SKY.
