#48 makes an unexpected stop at Amsterdam due to a passenger forgetting a suitcase at Utica. 100 is wearing the original Phase V. Note the red stripe has black below it. Phase Vb became the standard with the black skirt eliminated and the red stripe lowered.

8554 is a former NYC Grill Diner at home here on the Lake Shore Ltd. This diner has since been retired.

This sleeper was once operated on the overnight Twilight Shoreliner from Boston to Newport News, VA. That train no longer operates with sleepers but it could again some day. Today it is on the Lake Shore Ltd. Later in this album, you will see either this car or another with the Twilight Shoreliner decal.
Amsterdam Station's Sign. This sign was installed by Penn Central when this building was erected in 1970. It has since been replaced after August, 2006.
#280 idles at Amsterdam. 712 was repainted in 2003 to Phase Vb when it was overhauled. Then it was repainted into a NY Empire service version of Phase III paint in 2018 when it was overhauled then. 712 originally kept its nose numberboard until it was replaced with a nose hatch.

In phase III enroute to NYC on #48. 8559 would be repainted within a year and has since been retired.

A roadrailer in phase IV brings up the markers on #48. Ironic how I didn't like the roadrailers at the time on this train, and now I am glad I got this picture in retrospect!
7774 leads Q110 at Amsterdam station. These telegraph wires have since been removed. They provided a nice prop.
#286 rounds the curve across from the former Rodeway Inn in Palatine Br. This unit was repainted into Phase Vb in 2003 when overhauled. Then in 2016, it was overhauled and repainted into the Empire Service version of Phase III paint! 711 originally kept its nose numberboard until it was replaced with a nose hatch.

CP 143 at Rensselaer. #449 idles to the right. Looking north toward the shops. 700 is switching a mail car, FL9 485 & 486 and some F40's are in storage.
#260 idles at Rensselaer before heading south to Penn Station. 706 was the last unit to wear this as delivered paint when it was overhauled in the fall of 2004.
A clean, nice looking Amfleet Cafe. I find it interesting how often these cars didnt have the Amtrak label in the center of the cafe. Today, this car is riding on #260.
413 is seen parked under the Herrick St Bridge. A few months later, 413 went to Bear, Del. After that it was resurrected as a Cabbage and runs again albeit in different paint.

The Sperry Truck makes an inspection of the Chicago Line at Amsterdam station. This scene has changed significantly with the removal of the telegraph lines in late 2007 and the signal bridge being removed in 2011 and replacd by Safetran ground masts. The detector now says CSX MP 177.4 instead of Conrail, Guy Park, NY.
