Description:  Long before an EMD switcher wore the number MILW 628, this 2-8-2 Mikado had the honor. Buiilt by Alco-Brooks in July of 1912 as CM&StP #1873 (serial #51452), it was first renumbered 8073 later in 1912 and then again to CMStP&P 628 in 1938. It lasted until retirement in May of 1954 - one of the longer lasting of this group. This may actually be the last photo taken before it met the scrapper's torch.
