| This view came from the time I had obtained permission to visit the cab of Chessie System GP40-2 #4338. You may be able to see the semaphore signal's blades at the rightmost edge of the building. Dad used to work at this very signal tower (Cabin, on the C&O) and this is a reminder to me of the countless hours he spent there, doing his part to keep the railroad running smoothly. The "operator" is sitting at the middle window, with the CTC panel behind him (away from the tracks). |
