This structure served as the joint C&O-N&W freight house in Beckley, WV. I took the photo in March 1979 but I don't remember which day. The photo software did some rather creative adjusting: the truck is actually a gold or butterscotch color, and the freight house is the standard C&O grey, close to a battleship grey, as I recall. With little overhang, and simple board-and-batten construction, this might be a good building to model from scratch. Sadly, I don't recall how long the building was, but I would estimate 50 to 65 feet. Other details include the smokejack, seen just left of the utility pole; and the board (fascia? wainscot?) below the windows. Even though I took this picture in the mid-to late afternoon, the shades are all still at the same level, extending to the middle of the window. Attention to detail at its best! |
