Entry to Appleton Across the Fox River
The Milwaukee Road entered Appleton via a bridge across the Fox River to the industrial "flats" within the confines of the river valley. The line came from Menasha, which was connected to the secondary main between Milwaukee and Green Bay at Hilbert. The bridge piers are all gone, but this abutment remains on the south side of the river. The concrete structure on the left is a pier for the Memorial Drive traffic bridge, which the railroad bridge went under.
