NYC 0-6-0 #226 - New York Central (CR&I/IHB)         
This little 0-6-0 switcher was built for a New York Central subsidiary line by Alco-Cooke in October of 1918 as Chicago Junction #226. It slid over to the Chicago River & Indiana circa 1920. The final days occurred in May of 1950 when it was sold for scrap. Specs - serial #59335, B-62 class, 52" drivers, 190 psi boiler pressure, 21x28" cylinders, engine weight of 163,000 lb and tractive effort of 39,100 lb. W.Vesley photo

warren evans General Gary Here is the correct NYC, Sudsidies Chicsgo River & Indiana was nick named Chicago Junction At Ashland Ave Enginehouse was on the CJ But on the side of the building the long large sign said Chicago River and Indiana. The CR&I & CJ were not two separate roads it was the Railroad owned by NYC. Proper not IHB. 6/29/2023 1:59:43 PM
