UP Geeps Head North With A Local
With the sun setting below the horizon, we left Diridon to head south. As things can be sometimes, the action picked up as soon as we left the building. With the Caltrain clear, Union Pacific sends a local through the station at dusk. Darting back to the station from the parking lot, I barely caught the train as it rumbled through, albeit at an egregiously low shutter speed. GP40M-2 1466 leads the train along with GP60 1017, 1466 was originally built in 1966 for Seaboard Air Line, a railroad that ran from Virginia south to Florida. The unit lasted in service through the Seaboard Coast Line and CSX mergers, eventually being sold off to Cotton Belt in the late 1980s.
