This GP38-2 was built by EMD in January of 1981 as CSS #2000 and it is still an active member of the Chicago South Shore roster. Original colors were bright yellow and black but sometime in the mid-1980's, it received this bright orange and maroon scheme that matched the original Chicago, South Shore & South Bend livery colors. Rail fan Vernon Ryder Jr took this color slide which is now part of my rr collection.
I managed to catch the local at the lake crossing on this day. Sadly, CSS 2002 was leading, the only GP38-2 on the roster without a RS3K horn, making it sound so generic compared to the others.
I couldnt get to the crossing in time.
I get my first wave from a CSS engineer in a long time as CSS 2007 and 2000 get the local started again.
CSS 2000 and 2007 reverse back over the crossing for a roll-by inspection, while I get a low shot.
After a long time of not being able to head down to Stillwell to catch the CSS local, I finally got back to this crossing. Power was a LHF CSS 2007 and 2000.

I was really hoping this train would have CSS 805 and CSS 2010 on it like the last one, as power will sometimes stay on the local for a few trips. Ya, no. CSS 2000 and CSS 2006 were the power. Still cool to see them LHF again, I guess.

I am really proud of how this shot turned out, even if it was the same engines as the last time.

I wasnt going to let the previous awful shot be the only one I got of this train, so we rushed to the the State Road 4 crossing and got a much better shot.
We tried our best to beat the CSS to this crossing. We did, barely.
I thought this shot would be interesting.
