CSS GP38-2 #2001 and #2007 were built by EMD in January of 1981 and both have been an active member of the Chicago South Shore roster ever since. The photo here shows the original bright yellow & black paint scheme upon delivery but in the mid-1980's, the two would receive the bright orange and maroon scheme. An unidentified rail fan took this color slide which is now in my rr collection.

On this day I was actually just going for a bike ride, and I knew that the route I was taking would pass over the CSS, but with so little traffic I didnt expect to see anything. I did. it was the local with CSS 2004 leading and CSS 2001 trailing.
South Shores Stillwell Local, CSS PF10, was working the small yard south of town when we got into LaPorte. We grabbed some shots of it working before grabbing some lunch and heading back to NS.
